Beertz started playing guitar when he was 13 years old. In less than a year, he was playing in a band called the Belvideres. In the 70s, he played in a band called the Witt Brothers and then with the Coffee Band along with members, Bobby K and Mike Cummings. Starting in 80s, he formed the "Funn Band" with Bobby K and Bob Annette eventually becoming the band "Krackerjax" with Debo on bass. Krackerjax was one of the most popular and successful bands in the North Jersey Club circuit. Now into the 90s, Beertz joined Benny and played for several years with the band Scarlet. He later, along with Debo and Bobby K, formed the "Last Kall Band" and has been playing the North Jersey club scene ever since.
Keyboardist Dave Eggleston started music lessons at age 10, and played combo organ in the requisite garage bands as a teenager. While attending art school, he switched to piano at around age 20, studying jazz piano and music theory privately for the next several years. Over the past 2+ decades, he has played in several small jazz groups and club bands, led a piano trio, worked as a solo pianist, and done freelance and studio work. In addition to playing and singing in Captains of Leisure, Dave maintains a successful piano tuning/repair business. Dave is also currently involved in an original funk/fusion quartet with plans to record late in 2004.
